India is no stranger to dangerous heat waves and unbearable drought, and the temperatures have recently skyrocketed to epic proportions. It’s no surprise that staying hydrated is necessary for people and animals alike, and one dehydrated king cobra decided to seek water in a local village. The villagers — who knew it’s in their best interest to stay away from this deadly creature — decided to pitch in to help the snake in need.
Instead of running in the opposite direction, the villagers came together to provide the cobra with refreshment. The saying ‘it takes a village’ really rings true in this scenario. One person had to secure the snake by holding its tail to prevent it from attacking the man providing it with water.
How did these good samaritans provide the king cobra with water? Now that’s a sight you have to see! These people captured the amazing encounter and it has since gone insanely viral on YouTube, for a very good reason.
One brave man held a water bottle to the snake’s mouth, his arm nearly inches away from the king cobra’s fangs. He also had a snake catcher in case this mission didn’t go as planned and the king cobra decided to attack. The man splashed some water on top of the cobra’s head in an attempt to cool the snake. Everyone feared the worst, but the thirsty snake just began to drink from the water bottle in front of her. The miraculous act of courage by all of the villagers is truly incredible, and it just goes to show that people can really come together to make a difference.
This cobra was later taken to an animal care facility to be taken care of, and if it wasn’t for the help of a group of villagers this snake may have died from extreme dehydration. This brave act went a long way, and it teaches us once more you should never judge a book by its cover. Even if that cover is covered in scales. King cobras usually avoid interaction and confrontation, so the people knew she was in great need of help when she approached them. Despite their fear of the snake, they ended up saving her life. We should always come to together in times of hardship, and this is a great example of looking out for those in need, no matter the species. This definitely granted these villagers some good karma — king cobra style!
